Adams-Simpler-Ware VFW Post 6009 was officially chartered on March 10th, 1946. It had 72 charter members; the original post Commander was Richard F. Adams.

For many years the Post conducted an annual Memorial Day ceremony on May 30th at the Felton School. This was halted when Memorial Day became a national holiday (schools closed on the 4th Monday in May). Memorial Day ceremonies are now conducted at Memorial Park in Felton.

Post members and other veterans are invited to the Lake Forest North Elementary School each year. The Post also conducts an annual Pearl Harbor Day Memorial Service.
